If you’ve got a tar stain on your Chantilly lace, don’t worry! You can remove it using some household items and proper care. Read on to learn how to clean tar stains from Chantilly lace.
Before doing any cleaning, test an inconspicuous area of your Chantilly lace to make sure that fabric isn’t colorfast. To do so, dampen a white cloth with water and lightly dab onto the cloth. Check cloth for color transfer. If there is no color transfer, the fabric is safe to clean with vinegar.
Mix one tablespoon of mild laundry detergent and one tablespoon of white vinegar into one cup of warm water. Use a non-abrasive sponge or cloth to work liquid detergent into the stained areas of Chantilly lace. Gently massage the solution into the affected areas and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Once the solution has been allowed to work its magic, rinse the lace with warm water and pat it dry with a clean cloth. Do not wring or twist the fabric as this could cause damage.
If stain is still present, repeat steps two and three as needed until the stain has been completely removed. It is important to use gentle motions when cleaning Chantilly lace as harsh scrubbing can damage delicate fabric.
Cleaning a tar stain from Chantilly lace isn't difficult. Just remember to test for colorfastness before cleaning and to use gentle motions when brushing off the stain.
