Tar, also known as asphalt, is a sticky substance used for paving roads, driveways, and sidewalks. It can easily get onto your clothes if you are near a construction site or even just while walking around town. If you have a tar stain on your capris, there are some steps that you can take to try to remove it.
The most common and effective way to remove tar stains is by using commercial solvents like turpentine or mineral spirits. You can purchase these from a hardware store. Before attempting to use any solvent cleaner, you should first test fabric in an inconspicuous spot to make sure that it won’t cause any damage. Once you’ve tested the fabric, place a cloth over the tar stain and pour the solvent onto cloth. Use another cloth to gently scrub away the stain. After the stained area has dried, you can then wash the capris in a washing machine.
If you don’t have access to solvents, you can use vinegar to try to remove tar stains from your capris. Like with any other stain removing solution, it’s important to test this first on an inconspicuous spot of the fabric. Once you’ve ensured that the vinegar doesn’t damage the fabric, cover the tar stain with a cloth and pour white vinegar onto cloth. Let it sit for 10 minutes before scrubbing it away with a cloth. Then, wash the capris as usual.
Another great option for cleaning tar stains from your capris is baking soda. Start by covering the stain with baking soda, then add a small amount of water to make a paste. Gently scrub paste with a cloth until stain has been removed. Once the stain is gone, you can rinse off the baking soda and wash your capris as normal.
Getting tar stains on your capris can be frustrating, but luckily there are easy solutions that you can try to remove any unwanted marks. Whether you use solvents, vinegar, or baking soda, you should be able to get your capris looking good as new in no time!
