What You'll Need

  • Citrus-based oil solvent
  • Paper towels
  • Dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Soft brush

Step 1: Apply Citrus-Based Oil Solvent

Using paper towels, dab the citrus-based oil solvent onto the tar stain. Allow solvent to sit for a few minutes before rubbing gently at the stain with a soft brush.

Step 2: Wash Briefs with Dish Soap and Vinegar

In a sink full of warm water, mix a few drops of dish soap and two tablespoons of white vinegar. Soak the briefs in mixture for 10 minutes. This will help break down the oil in tar.

Step 3: Rinse Out the Soap and Vinegar Solution

Rinse out the soap and vinegar solution from the brief and examine the stain. If the stain is still present, repeat Steps 1 and 2.

Step 4: Place Briefs in the Dryer

Once the stain is gone, place the briefs in the dryer on a low heat setting for 10 minutes. This will help ensure the stain has been fully removed.
