Using a washcloth dampened with white vinegar, dab the tar-stained area until it is lightly covered. Let the vinegar sit on the fabric for up to 10 minutes, or until the tar has softened.
Once the tar has softened, use a pen or pencil to gently scrub at the fabric. Be careful not to apply too much pressure, as the tar may become embedded in the fibers of the fabric. Continue scrubbing until the majority of the stain is removed.
After the tar has been removed, machine wash your boxers in cold water with a liquid laundry detergent to remove any remaining residue. Avoid using fabric softener as this may cause the tar to set into the fabric.
Once boxers have been washed, let them air dry. Do not place them in the dryer as the heat may cause the stain to set permanently. Once your boxers are dry, they should be free from tar stains!
Tar stains on your boxers don’t have to be a death sentence. With a few simple steps, you can restore them to their former glory. All you need is some white vinegar, a washcloth, a pencil and some liquid detergent and you’re all set.
