Step 1: Rub Vegetable Oil on the Stain

Start by rubbing vegetable oil onto the stained area. Apply a generous amount of oil and let it soak in for a few minutes. This will help the tar stain loosen up and become easier to remove.

Step 2: Use a Scrubbing Brush or Sponge

Once the vegetable oil has had a chance to work its magic, use a scrubbing brush or sponge to gently scrub the stained area. If necessary, add more oil to help the scrubbing process.

Step 3: Rinse with Water

Rinse the board shorts with water to remove the oil and any remaining tar residue. Use a soft cloth or paper towel to dry the shorts.

Step 4: Repeat if Necessary

If the stains are particularly stubborn, repeat steps 1-3 until they are gone completely. Don't be afraid to use extra oil and scrub vigorously for tough stains.

Step 5: Wash in the Washing Machine

Once you have removed as much of tar stains as possible, throw the board shorts into the washing machine on a regular cycle. Add a mild detergent to the washer to help remove any remaining residue.
