Tar is one of the most difficult substances to remove from fabric. However, it is not impossible. Here are the steps you need to take to get those tar stains out of your belt:

  • If the stain is still wet, dab it gently with a dry cloth to absorb the excess oil.
  • Mix together a solution of warm water and a few drops of mild detergent.
  • Dampen a clean cloth in the solution and blot the stain until it is saturated.
  • Allow solution to sit on stain for a few minutes.
  • Rinse the belt with clean, cold water.
  • Allow belt to air dry.

Once your belt is dry, inspect it closely to ensure that tar stain has been completely removed. If it has not, repeat steps as needed.

With this simple cleaning hack, you can easily and efficiently remove tar stains from your belts, so you can keep them looking their best for longer.
