Tar is one of the most difficult and stubborn stains to remove from clothing. It can leave a visible black mark that can be very difficult to get rid of, especially on an Aline dress.

Aline dresses are delicate garments and require special care when removing any sort of stain, especially tar. The good news is that with the right materials and methods, tar stains can be removed from an Aline dress without much effort.
Before trying to remove the stain itself, it is important to scrape away as much of the excess tar as possible. Do not rub the stain as this may spread it even further. Use a blunt object such as a butter knife to gently scrape away the tar.
Once the excess tar has been scraped away, apply white vinegar to the fabric. Dip a cloth in the vinegar and dab the stained area, working the vinegar into the fabric. Allow the vinegar to sit for a few minutes before blotting the fabric dry with a paper towel.
Once the area has been blotted dry, sprinkle some detergent onto the stain. Work the detergent into the fabric using your hands. Allow the detergent to sit for a few minutes before rinsing with warm water.
Place the garment in the washing machine with other items only if they share a similar color and fabric. Use a mild detergent and wash the garment on the lowest possible setting. Once the washing cycle is complete, hang the garment outdoors to dry.
