tar

Whether you were walking on a construction site or accidentally got a bit of tar on your shoes, tar stains are tough to remove. But with the right know-how, you can get those stubborn tar stains off your Adidas shoes in no time.

Step 1: Soften Tar

The first step towards removing tar from your shoes is to soften it up. To do this, start by sourcing a little bit of lightweight oil. Depending on what you have on hand, you can choose from any number of options, including cooking oil, vegetable oil, baby oil, or petroleum jelly. Apply a few drops of oil directly onto the tar stain and use a cloth to rub oil into the stain.

If the tar doesn't easily come off, you may need to leave the oil on the stain for a few minutes before attempting to scrub again.

Step 2: Scrub the Stain

Once the tar has been softened up, it's time to start scrubbing. Get a new clean cloth and add a few drops of dish detergent, then begin scrubbing the stain. Don’t use too much force, as this could damage the fabric of your shoes. As you scrub, the tar should start to come off.

Continue scrubbing until the tar has been completely removed, or until you can no longer see any traces of the stain. Then, rinse the area with cool water.

Step 3: Repeat as Needed

If the stain is still visible after one attempt, you may need to repeat the process. Start by softening up the tar with oil again, then scrub with detergent and rinse with water. Repeat these steps until the stain has been completely removed.
