When it comes to tackling suntan lotion stains on yoga pants, your first step should be to act quickly! Scrape off as much of the lotion as possible by using a spoon or knife, and then blot the area to absorb any remaining residue.
Once you have removed as much of the suntan lotion as possible, the next step is to pre-treat the stain. There are a few options available, including oxi-based stain removers, laundry detergents, and bleach solutions. If you opt for one of the pre-treatments, apply directly to the stained area of the yoga pants and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before washing.
When laundering your yoga pants, use the warmest water setting recommended for the fabric. Add an extra rinse cycle to ensure all of the detergent is removed. After the first wash, check the pants for the stain, and if it's still visible, repeat the pre-treatment and wash again.
If stain persists despite your best efforts, it may be time to add a few additional cleaning tools to your arsenal. All-purpose stain removers, white vinegar, and even rubbing alcohol are effective solutions that can help break down the oil-based stain.
Once the stain has been removed, you can put your yoga pants in the dryer on the lowest heat setting. However, take care in drying as this could cause the stain to set, making it more difficult to remove.
