Use a clean cloth or paper towel to blot away the excess lotion from the stained area. Do not rub, as this will spread the stain and make it more difficult to remove.
Combine one part liquid dishwashing detergent with two parts cold water. Using a clean cloth, dip it into the solution and dab gently at the stained area of the trench coat. Do not rub fabric, as this can damage it.
Rinse the stained area with cold water. Make sure to rinse the entire area, not just the stained part, to ensure that all of the detergent is removed.
Place the coat in the washing machine with a gentle cycle. Add a small amount of laundry detergent, and wash according to the coat’s care instructions.
Once the coat is done washing, check to see if any of the stain remains. If the stain is still visible, repeat steps 1-4. Otherwise, you're done! Hang the coat to air dry.
