Add about two tablespoons of baking soda to a bowl of cool water. Place the soiled tank top into the bowl, making sure that it's completely submerged. Let it soak for one to two hours.
For stubborn stains, mix equal parts water and white vinegar and dip a stiff-bristled brush into the mixture. Scrub the stain gently and then rinse the tank top in cold water. Be sure not to use hot water, as this can cause the stain to set.
Once the soak is finished, take the tank top out of the bowl and run it under cold water. Then, place it into the washing machine with a gentle detergent. Remember to turn tank top inside out before washing it – this will help protect fabric. Set washer on the delicate cycle and be sure to use cold water only.
When the wash has finished, take the tank top out of washing machine and lay it flat on a dry towel. Pat dry the garment and then hang it to dry on a clothing line. Do not put it into a dryer or machine dryer, as this can damage the fabric.
