Before Treating & Removing Suntan Lotion Stains
- Read the label of your sports bra to make sure that it can be washed safely per the directions.
- Check care label for cleaning instructions for best results.
- If there is no instruction on the care label, it is always a good idea to test an area of the fabric before attempting to remove the stain.
Treating & Removing Suntan Lotion Stains
- If the brake can be washed use a heavy duty pre-treatment spray like Oxi Clean Max Force on the stained area.
- Allow the pre-treatment to sit for about 15 minutes.
- If thebrae can be machine washed, add your normal detergent plus a half-cup of baking soda and wash on the hottest water temperature safe for fabric.
- Allow the bra to air dry or tumble dry it on a low heat setting.
What If The Stain Doesn’t Come Out?
If the stain does not completely come out after washing, then you may need to spot clean it. Make a paste of baking soda and water and apply it directly to the stain. Rub it into the stain and let it set for 15 minutes. Then rinse the area and allow it to fully dry.
Preventing Suntan Lotion Stains
To prevent suntan lotion stains from happening in the first place, apply it liberally to your skin before putting on the sports bra. This will help prevent the lotion from spreading onto the fabric.
