If suntan lotion stain is fresh, you may be able to remove it with a damp cloth or sponge. Start by blotting the stain gently to absorb as much of the lotion as possible. After that, you can use a mild detergent to help lift the remaining stain. Be sure to avoid harsh detergents or bleaches as they can irritate your skin and discolor or ruin your socks.
If the suntan lotion stain is older or especially stubborn, you may need to take extra steps to remove it. One option is to soak socks in a mixture of warm water, vinegar, and baking soda. Simply mix one tablespoon of vinegar for every half cup of baking soda in a bowl of warm water and let socks soak for about 30 minutes. After that, you can rinse the socks in clean water and then wash it with your regular laundry detergent.
To prevent future suntan lotion stains on socks and other clothing, it is important to remove any excess lotion from your skin before getting dressed. You can do this by using a towel or washcloth to dab away any excess lotion. Additionally, consider wearing waterproof sandals or flip-flops while applying suntan lotion to further reduce the risk of staining your socks.
