Many areas sell special cleaning agents designed to remove suntan lotion. But there's no need to buy expensive products – all you need is some ordinary household items. To start, you'll need a non-bleach laundry detergent, a scrub brush or a cloth, and a stain remover such as lemon juice or vinegar.

The first step is to remove any excess lotion by dabbing area with a cloth or paper towel. Then, moisten the stained area with a damp cloth or sponge and apply some laundry detergent directly to the stained area. Using the scrub brush or cloth, massage the detergent into the fabric. Allow it to sit for a few minutes before rinsing the suds away with warm water.

If the stain is still visible, take a cloth soaked in lemon juice or white vinegar and place it over the stain. Rub it in gently and let it sit for approximately 10 minutes. Rinse with cold water and launder using a normal cycle.

For best results, repeat these steps a few times until the stain has disappeared. If the stain resists, try a commercial suntan lotion remover. After the stain has been lifted, wash the item immediately in the hottest water safe for fabric.

With a bit of time and attention, you can quickly, easily and cheaply remove suntan lotion from your sleep shirts without buying special cleaning agents. Just follow the simple steps outlined above to keep your clothing looking good as new.
