Removing Fresh Stains

If you’re able to attend to a fresh stain right after it happens, you’ll have an easier time getting rid of it. Gently blot the area with a clean cloth or paper towel. If you have any liquid laundry detergent, mix it in with some warm water and dip the same cloth or paper towel in solution. Gently dab at the stain and continue doing so until the stain starts to lift. Rinse the excess detergent off with a wet cloth. If the stain is still visible, you can try repeating this process.

Tackling Old Stains

If the stain has had time to set in, you’ll need to use some stronger methods. You can start by soaking the stained area in a mixture of baking soda and warm water for 30 minutes. After the time is up, rinse the skirt and see if the stain is still visible. If it is, mix some white vinegar with equal parts of warm water and dab the stained area with the solution. Let it sit for a few minutes and then rinse with cold water.

If the stain still won’t budge, don’t worry. You can try using some rubbing alcohol. Dab it onto the stained area and let it sit for about 15 minutes. Then, rinse area with cold water and check if the stain is gone.

Preventing Future Stains

To prevent future suntan lotion stains, it’s best to apply the lotion before you put your clothes on. If you do get a stain, the important thing is to act quickly. The sooner you tackle the stain, the better chance you have of removing it completely.
