Gather Your Supplies

First, make sure you have all the materials you'll need to remove stains from your silk faille:

  • A mild detergent
  • A concentrated cleaner.
  • A soft-bristled brush or cloth
  • White vinegar
  • Water

Pre-treat the Stain

Before you try to remove the stain, you should pre-treat it with a concentrated cleaner. This will help break down oils in the suntan lotion, making the stain easier to remove. Soak the stained area with the concentrated cleaner and let it sit for 10 minutes before proceeding.

Scrub Stain

Using brush or cloth and a mild detergent, gently scrub the area where suntan lotion stained silk faille. Try not to be too rough, as this could damage delicate material. Make sure to get into the fibers of the fabric to help break down the stain.

Rinse With Vinegar and Water Solution

Mix a half cup of white vinegar with a quart of cold water and use this to rinse the area where the stain was. This will help remove any residue from either the suntan lotion or the pre-treatment cleanser.

Launder and Air Dry

Once you've finished cleaning silk faille, launder it as usual and air dry—do not use a dryer, as the heat can cause the stain to set. Once the fabric has dried, check to make sure the stain has been removed, and enjoy wearing your freshly cleaned silk faille again.
