The first step in removing suntan lotion stains from sandals is to brush away any loose dirt and sand particles that may be stuck to the surface. Use a dry, soft-bristled brush or toothbrush to gently remove any deposits. You may need to use some soapy water to help loosen any particularly stubborn dirt.
Once the sand and debris have been removed, you’ll need to spot clean stained area. Prepare a cleaning solution by mixing one part white vinegar with three parts warm water in a small bowl. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and lightly dab at the sunscreen stains to help lift them out of the sandal materials.
Once you’ve removed as much of the stain as possible, it’s time to rinse off the remaining cleaner. Use a clean cloth and fresh water to gently wipe away any residue, then leave the sandals to air dry completely. If shoes are still wet when you go to put them away, they could develop mold or mildew.
Removing suntan lotion stains from sandals isn't difficult when you know the right techniques. With a few basic steps, you can easily restore your favourite summer footwear back to their original, sparkling condition.
