Suntan lotion can be tricky to remove from fabric, including pillows. But luckily, there are some simple steps you can follow to effectively get rid of the stains and restore your pillow's appearance.
Start by blotting the stained area with a cloth or paper towel to absorb any excess lotion. Do not rub the stain, as this may cause it to spread or set it deeper into the pillow.
Once you've blotted the stain, pre-treat it by applying a stain remover or laundry detergent directly onto the spot. Allow the product to sit on the fabric for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.
Once you've pre-treated the stain, wash the pillow in a washing machine according to the instructions on its care label. For best results, use a detergent specifically designed for delicate fabrics and select a cold water setting.
Once pillow has been washed, remove it from the machine and dry it either in the sun or in your tumble dryer, depending on its care instructions. To avoid further damage, make sure the heat setting is low or medium.
Once the pillow is completely dry, inspect it to make sure the stain has been removed. If not, repeat steps 2 - 4 until it is gone.
With a little patience and persistence, you can successfully remove suntan lotion stains from your pillow. Just remember to always take care when washing delicate fabrics, as too much agitation or heat can do more harm than good.
