Step 1: Pre-Treat with Rubbing Alcohol/Hydrogen Peroxide

Before you put your panties in the washing machine, pre-treat any suntan lotion stains with either rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. Start by blotting the stain with a clean white cloth to absorb some of the suntan lotion. Then, apply a few drops of rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide directly onto the stain. If you’re using rubbing alcohol, use a scrub brush to work it into fabric. Let the pre-treatment sit for around one minute before continuing.

Step 2: Pre-Soak Before Washing

For tougher suntan lotion stains, you may want to pre-soak your panties before washing them. Create a mixture of 1 teaspoon of laundry detergent, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, and 1 gallon of cold water. Submerge your panties and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. The longer you let them soak, the better the results.

Step 3: Launder Your Panties

Once your panties have soaked for the recommended amount of time, it’s time to put them in washing machine. Set the machine to “short wash” on a cool to warm temperature. However, make sure to avoid using hot water as this can cause stain to set and become permanent.

Step 4: Let the Panties Air Dry

Although it’s tempting to throw your panties in the dryer, take the time to let them air dry instead. Heat can cause the suntan lotion stain to set, making it harder to remove in the future. So, hang your panties on a clothesline or drying rack and let them air dry for several hours.

Pro Tips

  • If the stain is still present after laundering, repeat steps 2 and 3 until the stain has completely faded away.
  • Avoid using chlorine bleach, as this can discolor the fabric and make the stain worse.
  • For tough stains, you may want to add an enzyme pre-soak product to the pre-soak solution.
