Pre-treat the Stain

Before laundry day, pre-treat your sunscreen stained pajamas. Use a stain remover or liquid laundry detergent and gently rub into areas where the lotion has left marks. Let the pre-treatment solution sit for five minutes before throwing them into the wash.

Wash in Cold Water

When laundering your pajamas, set the washing machine to a cold water setting. Hot water could set the stain, making it almost impossible to get out. Also make sure to use a gentle laundry detergent.

Soak in Oxygen Bleach

If the stain remains after being washed, dissolve oxygen bleach in two gallons of lukewarm water and soak the fabric for at least 30 minutes. The oxygen bleach mixture should be one cup of oxygen bleach per gallon of water. If you don’t have oxygen bleach, buy a chlorine-free bleach that is safe to use on colors.

Air Dry or Use Low Heat

Once the pajamas are properly washed, air dry them if possible. If you must use a dryer, make sure to keep the setting on low. High heat could also set the stubborn stain. If the sun has not already, let the garment dry completely in the sun for a natural stain removing effect.
