Gently dab the stain with a soft cloth that has been dampened with water and mild detergent. Do not rub or scrub the area, as this could cause abrasion and damage to the leather. Use gentle pressure to work the soapy liquid into affected area.
Once you’ve spot-cleaned the stained area, rinse away all of the soap residue by lightly dampening the area with a cloth. Then, dry the shoes with a fresh cloth.
Leather needs to be conditioned regularly with a leather conditioner to stay supple and retain its natural oils. After cleaning, use a cloth to smoothly apply a small amount of leather conditioner to the shoe. This will help leather maintain its natural look and texture.
Suntan lotion stains may seem like a challenge to remove, but with the right cleaning technique, it’s easy to get your Oxfords looking like new again. Just remember to always use mild detergents and conditioners and work gently when cleaning your shoes to avoid damaging the leather.
