Step 1: Pre-treat the Stain

To start, pre-treat stain by rubbing a small amount of liquid detergent directly into it. Work detergent into the fabric using your fingers or a soft-bristled brush, then let it sit for 15-20 minutes.

Step 2: Wash Swimsuit

After pre-treating the stain, place the one-piece swimsuit in the washing machine along with other items. Choose a delicate cycle with cold water and a small amount of mild detergent. To make sure the fabric doesn't shrink, avoid using hot water.

Step 3: Air Dry the Swimsuit

Once the cycle has finished, air dry the one-piece swimsuit instead of putting it in dryer. This will help preserve the color and fabric of swimsuit, and it will also help prevent shrinkage.

Step 4: Repeat if Necessary

If the stain is still visible after the first wash, repeat steps 1-3 as needed. You may need to use a stain removing product specifically designed for removing suntan lotion stains.

Tip

Be sure to check the care instructions of your swimsuit before attempting to clean it. Some fabrics should be spot cleaned only, while others are machine washable.
