Sunscreen can attach to surfaces because of its combination of oils, waxes, and silicone-based residues that come from the product's ingredients. These ingredients can cling to fabrics, such as the material used to make masks.
Whether your mask is made of cotton, polyester, silk or other fabric materials, you can get rid of sunscreen stains with a few simple steps.
If the stains won't come out after following the above steps, you can try soaking the mask in a mixture of 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 gallon of warm water for 30 minutes. Afterward, launder the mask in a mild detergent in the washing machine.
Removing sunscreen stains from masks requires a bit of effort, but it's worth it to help keep your favorite masks looking their best. Just remember to always use a gentle detergent on stain removal and the laundry cycle to ensure your mask's fabric hasn't been damaged.
