If you notice the stain right away, it is best to act fast in order to prevent it from settling into the grass or becoming more difficult to remove. You can use a mixture of dishwashing liquid, white vinegar, and water to make an effective solution that you can spray directly onto the stain. Let the mixture sit for several minutes, then scrub lightly with a soft brush before rinsing area with cool water from a garden hose.
If the stain has had time to dry and settle into the lawn, you may have to take a more aggressive approach. Start by using a lawn mower to cut the grass close to the stained area, as this will remove some of the dead grass and reduce the amount of staining. Next, use a combination of bleach and water to create a solution and pour it directly onto the stain. You should let the bleach work its magic for at least 10 minutes before scrubbing lightly with a stiff brush and then rinsing the area off with a garden hose.
To prevent future suntan lotion stains, it is best to avoid sunbathing in same spot frequently and always clean up the area immediately after use. You can also cover the area with a tarp or other waterproof material to protect the grass from coming into contact with the lotion.
