If your jewelry has been stained by suntan lotion, you can try removing the residue using a few household items. One of the easiest techniques is to use soap, water and a brush. First, fill a cup or bowl with warm water and add a few drops of mild liquid dish soap. Submerge your jewelry in the soapy water and use a soft-bristle toothbrush to gently scrub away the lotion stain. Rinse off the jewelry with clean water, and pat dry with a soft cloth.

If this method doesn't work for your jewelry, you may want to try using rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover. Both of these products can be effective at removing suntan lotion residue. Just be sure to use a small amount and keep the jewelry away from direct heat. You may also want to test them on an inconspicuous area first to make sure they won’t damage your jewelry.

For more delicate jewelry, you can use a paste made of baking soda and a few drops of water. Apply the paste to jewelry and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing and polishing with a soft cloth. You can also try white vinegar diluted with equal parts of warm water. Soak your jewelry in the solution for 30 minutes before polishing with a soft cloth.

If the stains still won’t come off, you may want to take it to a professional jeweler. Professional jewelers have specialized tools and methods to effectively remove suntan lotion stains and other types of blemishes from jewelry.
