Removing Fresh Stains

If you can tackle stain quickly, getting it out of your jacket is a breeze. Here's what you should do:

  • Blot the stain with a clean, dry cloth to soak up any excess lotion.
  • Mix one part liquid laundry detergent with five parts lukewarm water.
  • Dip a cloth or sponge into mixture and blot the stain gently.
  • Once the stain has been blotted out, rinse the area with lukewarm water.
  • You can let the jacket air dry or tumble-dry on low heat.

Removing Old Stains

For old, set-in suntan lotion stains, a bit more work may be required. Try this method:

  • Create a paste from cool water and a gentle laundry detergent.
  • Apply the paste to the stained area of your jacket.
  • Leave the paste on for about 30 minutes, then blot it off with a damp cloth.
  • Rinse the area with lukewarm water and let the jacket air-dry.

Once all the stains are out and your jacket is dry, use a fabric protector spray to help keep the material looking new and help it resist future stains.
