What You'll Need

  • Oxygen-based bleach or a gentle liquid laundry detergent (like Dreft)
  • Clean towels
  • Sponge or soft-bristled brush
  • Plastic bucket
  • Cold water

Steps for Cleaning

  1. Create a cleaning solution by adding 1 cup oxygen-based bleach or 2 tablespoons gentle liquid laundry detergent to a plastic bucket filled with cold water.
  2. Immerse the Irish crochet in cleaning solution.
  3. Allow the fabric to soak for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Gently scrub the stained area with a sponge or soft-bristled brush.
  5. Remove the Irish crochet from the cleaning solution, rinse in cold water and wring out excess moisture with a towel.
  6. Lay the fabric flat and allow it to air dry.

Tips

  • Avoid using hot water — as it can cause the Irish crochet to shrink or fade.
  • If the stain still persists, try using a white vinegar solution, which can help remove any soap residue or oil-based stains.
