The first step to getting rid of a suntan lotion stain is to blot area with a dry paper towel. This helps to absorb any excess lotion still on the fabric so it can't sink deeper into the fabric and make the stain worse. Keep blotting until you've absorbed as much of lotion as possible.
Once you've blotted majority of the lotion off the fabric, you should pre-treat the stained area using a laundry spot remover or dish soap. Dab some of the cleaner directly onto the fabric and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. During this time, the cleaner will help to break down the residue and make it easier to remove.
Once you've pre-treated the stain, you should put clothing in the washing machine and wash as normal. Be sure to use cold water and a mild detergent, as hot water can cause the stain to spread and set permanently. When the cycle is finished, check the clothing to make sure the stain is gone before drying.
If the stain is still visible after washing, you may need to repeat the above process to fully remove the stain. You can also try using a stain remover or soaking the clothing in a mixture of white vinegar and water for a few hours before rewashing.
