The first step to removing suntan lotion stains is to dab up any excess lotion from fabric. Use a cloth or paper towel, depending on the type of fabric, and press gently but firmly to soak up as much of the lotion as possible.
Once you have removed excess lotion, use a pre-treatment spray or paste such as Tide to Go Instant Stain Remover to treat stain. Follow the instructions on the package and allow it to sit on stain for several minutes before washing.
Once you have pre-treated the stain, put the fabric in the washing machine with a mild detergent. Select the cycle that works best for the type of fabric, and add a color-safe bleach if needed. Allow the fabric to go through a full wash cycle and rinse cycle.
Once the wash cycle is complete, check to make sure the stain is gone. If it is still visible, repeat Steps 1-3 until stain has been fully removed. If necessary, re-treat the fabric with the pre-treatment solution again and launder it one more time.
