Start by gathering the following items: a cloth, a damp sponge, a bucket, liquid dish soap, and some isopropyl alcohol.
After gathering the necessary supplies, it's important to do a spot test on an inconspicuous area of your bag or wallet. A good spot to test is either on the underside of the item or inside a seam. This will let you know if cleaner will discolor or damage the material. If the spot test passes, move on to the next step.
In the bucket, add two tablespoons of the liquid dish soap and two cups of warm water. Grab the damp sponge and dip it in solution, squeezing out any excess water. Then, dampen cloth with the same solution.
When cleaning a bag, start by dabbing at the stain gently with the cloth. Remember to be gentle and never scrub in a circular motion as this can damage material. When cleaning a wallet, make sure to use the corner of the cloth. After the initial dabbing, go over area with the damp sponge.
Once you’re done, rinse the cloth and sponge in warm water and then wipe away the suds from your item. Let the item air dry after wiping away the suds.
If the suntan lotion stains are still visible, grab the isopropyl alcohol and repeat steps three and four. Be sure to test the area first with the spot test.
