Fila, an Italian sportswear manufacturer, is known for making durable clothing. But even with this robustness, suntan lotion can leave a nasty stain. The oily and greasy residue it leaves behind can be difficult to remove. Luckily, though, there are a few methods to try and remove suntan lotion stains from your Fila clothes.

Scrub with Soap and Water

The first method to try is to scrub the affected area with a bar of soap and cold water. For best results, use a soap with a good lathering action, like Ivory or Fels Naptha. Rub the soap in circles over the stain and then rinse the fabric in cold water. If the stain is still partially visible, repeat this process until it becomes less noticeable. This can be an effective solution, but it takes time and effort.

Use a Stain Remover

If soap and water doesn’t remove the suntan lotion stain, you may want to try using a commercial stain remover. These products are specially formulated to break down tricky stains and can be effective at removing suntan lotion stains. Just apply the solution to stained area according to the directions on label and let it sit for a few minutes before washing.

Prevent Future Stains

To protect your Fila clothing from suntan lotion stains, you should wash the fabric after each use. This way, any oily residue left behind by suntan lotion will be easily washed away. Additionally, you may want to spray your Fila clothing with a fabric protector to help repel suntan lotion. These sprays create a barrier between the suntan lotion and fabric and can help prevent future stains.
