We all have a favorite piece of lace in our closets, but it can be hard to keep it looking brand new. Suntan lotion stains can be especially difficult to remove - but with the right tools, methods, and products you can get your delicate duchesse lace looking as good as new.

Start by lightly dabbing the suntan lotion stain with a white cloth dampened with a spot cleaning solution or pre-treated stain remover. Dab gently and do not rub or scrub, as this may cause more damage to the delicate fabric. Work on the stain from the outside in, so that it does not spread.
If the stain is still visible, dip another white cloth in dry cleaning solvent and dab at the stain. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing, just as with spot cleaning solution. Let it sit for a few minutes before blotting with a clean, dry cloth.
If the stain remains, hand wash the piece of duchesse lace with a mild laundry detergent. Fill a sink with lukewarm water and add a small amount of the detergent. Place the garment in the water and let it soak for 10-15 minutes. Drain sink and rinse the lace with lukewarm water until all of soap residue is gone. Let the item air dry after rinsing.
