Your first step should be to pre-treat the affected area with a detergent solution. Make sure to use one that is mild and suitable for the fabric that you’re treating. Apply the detergent to a damp cloth or sponge, then start gently rubbing the stain until it starts to come up. Don’t scrub too hard - you don’t want to damage the coat. Rinse off the detergent with clean water when done.
The next step is to rinse the area with white vinegar to help break down oily residue from the suntan lotion. Mix one part vinegar to two parts water and apply the solution to a clean cloth. Gently but firmly rub area in a circular motion. This should help release the stain. Let the vinegar solution sit for a few minutes before rinsing off with clean water.
The last step is to soak the area with baking soda. This will help to remove any remaining residue and should help to restore the original color. Mix one part baking soda with two parts water and dip a clean cloth into mixture. Gently rub the affected area with the cloth, then let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with clean water and you should be good to go.
