The first step to removing suntan lotion stains is to carefully remove any excess oil from the blazer. Be careful not to rub too hard, as this can cause staining to become worse. Use a soft cloth and gently dab at the fabric. Do not scrub!
After you’ve removed any excess oil, use a dish detergent to further break down the stain. Apply the detergent directly to stain, rubbing it in with a soft cloth in a circular motion. Allow the detergent to sit on the stain for up to an hour before rinsing it off.
After the detergent has been left on stain for an hour, rinse the area with warm water. You may also want to try pre-treating the stain with a fabric stain remover. Let the product sit on the stain for up to 30 minutes, then proceed to washing the blazer.
When you’re ready to wash the blazer, turn it inside out and place it in the washing machine. Choose a gentle cycle and use a mild detergent for best results. Once the cycle is complete, air dry blazer or tumble it on low heat.
Removing suntan lotion stains from your favorite blazer doesn't have to be a hassle. By following these simple steps, you can easily remove any stubborn stains and have your blazer back to looking its best in no time.
