When you're getting your summer glow, you might be wearing a bandana as an accessory. But if you're not careful, suntan lotion can leave its mark and create an ugly, permanent stain. Fortunately, you can still salvage that favorite bandana of yours with a few simple steps.

Step 1: Rinse the Stain

If you catch the stain before it has a chance to set into fabric, you can rinse it away with cold water before it becomes an issue. If the stain is already marked, you can use cold water or a mild detergent solution to lift it from the fabric fibers.

Step 2: Treat with Stain Remover

If the stain is still visible after rinsing, it's time to break out a stain remover. Choose something suited for removing suntan lotion, as this will help break up the oil and pigment. Many commercial products will work, but you can also make your own DIY stain remover with a few common household items.

Step 3: Wash in Washing Machine

Once the stain is treated, you can throw the bandana into the washing machine on a light cycle with cold water and a mild detergent. As with any other delicate fabric, air drying the bandana is recommended over throwing it in dryer.

Following these easy steps can keep your bandanas looking fresh and vibrant, all summer long. With a little bit of extra care, you can enjoy wearing your favorite fashion accessory without worrying about suntan lotion stains.
