Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain

Begin by pre-treating the stain before washing. Use a pre-treatment stick to rub some liquid detergent onto the stained area. You can also apply a few drops of white vinegar to help break down the proteins in the suntan lotion. Let solution sit for at least 10 minutes before washing.

Step 2: Wash the Item

Once you've pre-treated the item, it's time to wash it. Place the clothing item in a sink, basin, or bucket of warm water and add in a mild detergent. Let the item soak for at least 15 minutes before rinsing thoroughly with cool water.

Step 3: Air Dry Item

Air drying is the best way to avoid shrinking or misshaping the item. Hang clothing item in a well-ventilated area and let it air dry. Once it is completely dry, inspect it for any remaining stains. If there are still some suntan lotion stains left behind, repeat Steps 1-3 until all of the stains are gone.

Additional Tips

  • Always use a mild detergent when washing items from Banana Republic.
  • Avoid using bleach or other harsh chemicals on the fabric, as these can damage the fabric.
  • For extremely stubborn stains, try using an enzyme cleaner.
