Before you begin, make sure you have following supplies on hand: detergent, white vinegar, club soda, hydrogen peroxide, and a clean, dry cloth.
Start by using a dry, clean cloth to blot away any excess suntan lotion that is sitting on rug. Be sure to press firmly but gently so as not to spread the stain.
Once you have removed any excess suntan lotion, it's time to apply the detergent. Mix a teaspoon of liquid detergent with two cups of warm water. Using a clean cloth, apply the mixture to the stain and let it sit for 15 minutes.
After letting the detergent sit for 15 minutes, rinse the area with white vinegar. Pour a cup of white vinegar over the stained area and let it sit for another 15 minutes. This will help to break up the stain even more.
Once the vinegar has worked its magic, it's time to apply hydrogen peroxide. Pour a tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide onto the stain and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then, use a clean cloth to blot away any excess hydrogen peroxide.
After applying hydrogen peroxide, it's time to give the area one final cleansing. Gently pour club soda directly onto the area and blot with a clean cloth. This will help to remove any remaining residue from the stain.
Once you have blotted the area with club soda, it's important to allow it to dry completely before putting furniture or other items on top of the rug. This will help prevent any new stains from forming on the rug.
