What You Will Need

  • Warm Water
  • Liquid Detergent
  • Paper Towel
  • White Vinegar
  • Baking Soda

Instructions

  1. The first step is to gently blot the affected area with a damp paper towel to absorb excess oil and lotion. Do not rub or scrub the stain as this can cause further damage to the fabric.
  2. Create a mixture of one teaspoon of liquid detergent and warm water. Gently dab the mixture onto the stain and then press a dry paper towel over it to absorb any extra moisture.
  3. If stain persists, pour a small amount of white vinegar directly onto stain, wait for five minutes and then rinse it off with water.
  4. For tough stains, mix together a teaspoon of baking soda and a cup of warm water. Sponge the mixture onto the stain and let it sit for an hour before rinsing with water.
  5. Once the stain is removed, hang your dress in direct sunlight to help remove any remaining residue.

Tips

  • Always read the care instructions on the garment label before attempting to remove any stain.
  • For stubborn stains, it may be best to take your item to a professional dry cleaner.
  • If your dress is made of delicate fabric, try to avoid using harsh chemical cleaners and stick to more natural solutions.
  • Make sure to pretest any cleaning solution on a small, inconspicuous area of the fabric before applying to entire stain.
