1. Act Quickly

The best way to remove any type of stain, including sparkling wine stains, is to act quickly. As soon as you notice the spill on your umbrella, remove it right away. Use a clean cloth or paper towels to blot up as much of the liquid as possible. Be sure to start from the outside and work your way inwards so that the stain doesn’t spread.

2. Pre-Treat the Stain

Once you’ve blotted up as much of the liquid as possible, it’s time to pre-treat the stain. A simple solution of equal parts white vinegar and water should do trick. Apply the mixture generously to the spot, then allow it to sit for 10 minutes or so before rinsing with cold water.

3. Launder

Now it’s time to throw the umbrella in the washing machine. Use a regular detergent and a gentle cycle. Be sure to only use cold water, as hot water can set stain and make it more difficult to remove. Once the cycle is complete, let the umbrella air dry.

4. Repeat if Necessary

If the stain persists after laundering, you may need to repeat the pre-treatment and laundering steps. If necessary, you may also want to use a laundry pre-treatment product, such as Shout or OxyClean, before laundering.

5. Professional Cleaning

If none of the above methods work, you may need to take your umbrella to a professional cleaner. They will have the knowledge and resources to help you remove even the most stubborn of stains.
