Nothing ruins a good time quicker than a wine stain on your favourite article of clothing, especially when that piece happens to have been made with Tencel! Don't despair - you can easily and quickly get those tannins and pigments out of your Tencel garments and back to their former glory. Here's how.

As soon as you notice a spot of sparkling wine on your Tencel garments, take immediate action by blotting the spot with a dry cloth. Do not rub! Rubbing will only help to spread the stain and make it more difficult to remove completely. If possible, take the garment outside or to a well-ventilated area and gently shake the fabric to see if the excess liquid falls out. If not, move onto next step.
Next, apply a trusted stain remover to the affected area. Make sure to follow all instructions provided with the product you choose. To avoid any unwanted bleaching, test the stain remover in an inconspicuous spot first. Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing garment with cold water. Once again, never rub the spot to try and remove the stain. Gently dab the area with a damp cloth instead.
If the stain remains, try creating a mixture of one part baking soda and two parts water. Dip a sponge or cloth into the mixture, then blot the stained areas until a thick layer of paste has been applied. Let the paste sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off with cold water. Repeat this process as many times as necessary until the stain is removed.
Lastly, wash the tencel fabric with a quality detergent and cool water. Always refer to the care label to ensure you're washing the garment on the right setting and temperature. Dry your fabric as per directions on the care label, and voila - your once-stained item should now be clean and spotless!
