Removing Sparkling Wine Stains from Sweatpants-- Quick and Easy!

What You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Cold water
  • Liquid dish soap
  • Borax detergent booster
  • Hydrogen peroxide

Step by Step Instructions

  1. Blot the stain with a clean, dry cloth.
  2. Mix together ¼ cup of white vinegar, 1 teaspoon of liquid dish soap, and 1 Tablespoon of Borax in a bowl.
  3. Apply this mixture to the stain, working it in with a soft brush.
  4. Rinse the area with cold water.
  5. If stain is still visible, repeat the process in step 2 and 3 with a fresh batch of the mixture.
  6. Once stain has been removed, rinse area with cold water again, then lay the garment flat on a towel and let it air dry.
  7. If any discoloration remains, mix together 1 part hydrogen peroxide and 1 part water and use a cotton ball to dab the affected area. Let the solution remain for 10 - 20 minutes, then rinse with cold water. Do not leave hydrogen peroxide on for too long, as it can cause discoloration to the fabric.

Preventing Future Stains

To avoid getting stains from sparkling wine on clothing, it's best to clean up spillage quickly. This can be done by blotting area with a clean, damp cloth. If the stain does occur, follow steps outlined above to get it out.
