The longer the stain has to set in, the harder it will be to remove. Immediately after noticing a sparkling wine stain on your sock, dab it up with a paper towel. Make sure not to rub the stain in too hard, as this could cause permanent damage to the fabric.
Using a clean white cloth, gently dab the stained area until you’ve managed to get rid of as much of the sparkling wine as possible. If needed, repeat Step 1 and Step 2 a few times in order to remove the stain completely.
Mix 1/4 cup of white vinegar with 1/4 cup of water. Pour the solution onto the stain and let sit for 10 minutes or so. Cover the stain with a thin layer of the vinegar and water solution, so that it saturates the fibers. Then, dab away the liquid with a paper towel or a clean cloth.
After the stain has been treated with the vinegar and water solution, it’s time to wash the sock with laundry detergent. Fill a tub with lukewarm water and then add the detergent. Allow the sock to soak for at least 15 minutes before wringing out excess water. Hang to dry.
Once sock is dry, take a look at the stain. If it’s still there, you may need to repeat the process. After a few treatments, you should be able to get rid of the dreaded sparkling wine stain.
