The first step in tackling a sparkling wine stain is to blot the area immediately with a dry cloth. As with any type of stain, sooner you take action, the better your chances of successfully removing it become.
Once you've firmly blotted the area, apply some liquid detergent to the stain and allow it to sit for about fifteen minutes. Then, use a brush to rub the detergent into the fabric. This will help break down wine particles and make them easier to remove.
Once you've scrubbed fabric with the detergent, rinse it with warm water. Make sure to keep blotting the fabric throughout the process to ensure that you're removing as much of the sparkling wine as possible.
If you're still seeing signs of the stain after rinsing it out, you can pretreat area with a mixture of vinegar, baking soda, and water. Mix together equal parts of each of the ingredients and spray the fabric generously. Allow the solution to sit for at least 10 minutes before washing the garment as you normally would.
After washing the garment, take a look at the area to see if the stain is still visible. If not, you can hang it up to dry or put it in the dryer, depending on care instructions on the label. Congratulations! You've just mastered how to remove sparkling wine stains from sleepwear.
