Step 1: Blot the Stain

Start by blotting up the spill with a clean, white cloth. Never rub or scrub stain as that could further spread the stain and make it more difficult to remove. If the fabric allows, put an absorbent cloth underneath stain, such as a paper towel, to absorb more of the liquid.

Step 2: Pre-Treat with Detergent

To pre-treat the area, mix a drop of mild detergent with warm water and use a cotton swab to lightly dab the stain. Allow this to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing it out with warm water.

Step 3: Rinse and Repeat

If the stain persists, try repeating pre-treatment process. After pre-treating, fill a bucket with warm water and add a few drops of mild detergent and white vinegar. Swish the solution around until it is bubbly and sudsy, then soak the skirt with the stain for about 20-30 minutes before rinsing it out with clean water.

Step 4: Use Oxygen Bleach

If pre-treating and soaking the fabric doesn’t remove the stain, you can use oxygen bleach to help lift it out. Add a scoop of oxygen bleach powder into a bowl of warm water and stir until dissolved. Dip the stained area into the solution and allow it to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing it out with clean, warm water.

Step 5: Dry and Inspect

Once you have finished cleaning the skirt, dry it thoroughly with a white cloth. Once it is dry, inspect it to ensure the stain is removed. If it’s still there, repeat one of the steps above.
