When it comes to spills, sparkling wine might be one of the nastiest. The combination of sugar and acid makes it especially difficult to remove, even though the clear liquid looks easy enough to wipe away. Don't worry, however; with right supplies and methods, you can make sure your favorite skirt remains in pristine condition.

You will Need:

  • White cotton towel or cloth
  • Borax
  • A small bowl
  • Club soda
  • Liquid detergent

Steps

  1. As soon as you notice the stain, blot the spot with a white towel or cloth.
  2. Mix one tablespoon of borax with a quarter cup of warm water and stir until dissolved. Soak a clean cloth in the solution and apply it to the stained area.
  3. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
  4. Rinse the stained area with cold water and then blot it with a dry cloth.
  5. If the stain persists, soak it in club soda for 30 minutes, then rinse with cold water and pat dry.
  6. If the stain is still not gone, apply a few drops of liquid detergent directly onto the spot and let it sit for 10 minutes.
  7. Rinse the area with cold water again and then blot the stain with a cloth until it’s gone.

And there you have it! With a few simple steps and supplies, you can keep your sparkling wine stains from ruining your favorite skirts.
