Start by scraping off as much of sparkling wine as possible using a butter knife or a spoon. Be sure not to press too hard or rub the material, as it could damage the fibers. Then you'll want to dab the area with a clean, white cloth. This will help to absorb the remaining liquid.

Next, make a paste from baking soda, water and a few drops of liquid dish soap. Apply this paste to the stained area of taffeta and allow it to sit for about 10 minutes. Once the paste has had time to work its magic, rinse it off with cold water. You may need to repeat this process a few times if the stain is still visible.

If stain still remains, mix together equal parts liquid laundry detergent and white vinegar, and blot the stain with this solution. Allow it to sit for at least 15 minutes before rinsing with cold water. For stubborn stains, you may also want to try a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and dish soap. Again, let this sit for 15 minutes before washing the fabric with cold water.

Finally, you may want to try spraying the stained area with a bit of rubbing alcohol and then washing fabric with cold water. The alcohol should help to break down the remaining stain. Once you've finished cleaning the fabric, you may want to apply a fabric protector spray to help protect against future spills.

And there you have it – several tips for getting sparkling wine stains out of silk taffeta! Who knew that a stained dress could be saved with a few simple steps?
