What You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Bowl
  • Laundry detergent or dish soap
  • Soft brush
  • Clean cloth

Steps to Clean the Stain

  1. Mix 1 part white vinegar with 2 parts warm water in a bowl.
  2. Soak a soft brush in the mixture and gently scrub the silk fabric in a circular motion to remove the sparkling wine stain.
  3. Rinse fabric in cold water.
  4. Mix a teaspoon of laundry detergent or dish soap with two cups of cold water in a bowl.
  5. Soak a clean cloth in the mixture and dab the stained area.
  6. Rinse the stained area again in cold water.
  7. Repeat the steps until the stain is completely gone.

Additional Tips

  • Don’t use boiling water on silk as it can damage the fabric. Stick to cold water.
  • Avoid using too much detergent or soap as it can leave residues in the fabric.
  • Don’t rub the fabric too hard while removing the stain as it can cause fabric to fray.
