How to Remove Sparkling Wine Stains from Silk Dupioni

For an immediate response to the accident, without fail, use a white cloth or paper towel to blot up as much of liquid as possible. This could take some time. Do not rub the stain – this will only spread it further.

Next, pretreat the stain by mixing equal parts white vinegar and water, and dabbing it onto the spot with a white cloth or paper towel. Let it sit for a few minutes, then blot it dry.

Follow this with another cleaning solution made of equal parts dish soap and hydrogen peroxide, dabbed on with a clean white cloth and left to air dry away from direct heat.

If either of these treatments does not work to remove the stain, you may need to take the garment to the dry cleaners for a professional cleaning.

Preventing Stains on Silk Dupioni

The best way to avoid stains on silk dupioni garments is to limit exposure to liquids and wear protective clothing over it when sitting down in a restaurant or leaving a glass unattended. If you spill something, even water, act quickly to get it off.

No matter how careful you are, accidents will happen. Knowing how to respond quickly can help save your favorite silk dupioni garment.
