Silk dupioni is a delicate fabric which requires careful cleaning, so it can be a challenge to remove a stubborn sparkling wine stain without causing any damage. But by following a few simple steps, you can get your garment looking as good as new in no time.
As soon as spill happens, use a paper towel to blot the stained area. Don’t rub, just press cloth firmly against the surface to absorb as much of the liquid as possible. The sooner you act, the less likely the stain will set into the fabric.
Mix together one tablespoon of white vinegar, one teaspoon of mild laundry detergent, and one cup of lukewarm water. Gently mix everything together until the solution is slightly bubbly.
Test the mixture on a hidden part of the fabric before applying it to stain. Once it passes the test, dip a cloth or sponge into solution and gently blot stained area. Reapply the solution as needed until the stain is gone.
Rinse the area with lukewarm water and dab it dry with a paper towel. Hang the fabric up to air dry, ensuring that it’s not in direct sunlight. Once it’s dry, inspect it to make sure the stain has been removed.
