In most cases, the best method for dealing with a spilled glass of sparkling wine is to act quickly. As soon as it's spilled, use a towel to gently blot stained area. Do not rub the stain since this will cause it to spread and worsen the damage.
Once you've blotted the stain with a towel, run cold water through it from backside of the fabric. This will help to flush out the excess wine and make it easier to remove stain.
If possible, air dry the fabric rather than using a dryer. Heat will fix the stain in place and make it impossible to remove.
Before laundering the fabric, pretreat the stain with a commercial stain remover. Read manufacturer's instructions carefully and follow them closely in order to ensure the best results.
Make a solution of equal parts white vinegar and cold water and apply it to the stained area. Let it sit for several minutes before washing as normal.
Mix a small amount of baking soda with water to create a thick paste. Apply it directly to the stained area, allow it to dry, and then launder as normal.
Apply a small amount of liquid dish soap directly to the stain and let it sit for several minutes. Rinse, and then launder fabric as normal.
Make a solution of 1 tablespoon ammonia mixed with 1 cup of cold water, and use it to pre-soak the stain overnight. In the morning, launder as normal.
Create a solution of 3% hydrogen peroxide and dish soap, and apply it directly to the stain. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes, and then rinse and launder as normal.
Never do laundry again. Save time for things you ❤️
